Long Road Ahead

I count the days of each season of Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

It reminds me of the maple tree that changes its colorful hues of green, red, orange and yellow.

It is a long road ahead, but still, I tread on with anticipation of undiscovered places of wonder.

Each step forward, there are roadblocks and detours that I must take.

Why do I take such a path, you might ask?

I want to travel to a destination that I could call my own sanctuary.

A special place that I seek, that surrounds me with green pastures and blue lakes undisturbed by humans.

It is a long road ahead, but still, I tread on with hope and kindness to this earth.

UC Berkeley Botanical Garden

UC Berkeley Botanical Garden

As a Bay Area resident and a lover of plants and nature, I didn’t miss an opportunity of visiting local gardens, such as UC Berkeley Botanical Garden. This 34-acre garden boasts of 10,000 diverse plants to be awed of by your human eyes. I had the joy and enthusiasm of a curious gardener walking through this garden five years ago. I spent about 3 hours there taking photos and literally was overwhelmed.

I highly recommend this as a day trip with family and friends. I suggest early morning when they open, especially if you want to see every section of the garden and to take photos. Though there is an admission fee, it is still economical. You won’t be disappointed if you are a nature lover and enjoy a day of fresh air, mental therapy, and exercise. See the link below for more info.

With Or Without You

So many times, I ask myself, “Why do I love you?”

I love you, for all the things you were then and now.

I love you, for all the good and bad.

I love you, when you were young and even now older.

I love you, when you are here and even when you are not.

I love you, for all the wonders of life you taught me.

I love you, for your empathetic nature and your gentle smile.

I love you, for all the sacrifices that made me the woman I am today.

With or without you here, I still love you.

I love you mom, because you are my forever superhero.

I Am Not Perfect

I Am Not Perfect

 I am here.

See the real me inside.

An Asian American girl that matured through the looking glass of this chaotic society.

I ask not to be judged by the color of my skin, my hair, my eyes, or even the shape of my body.

I ask to be treated with respect and dignity as a human being.

I am full of optimism and love for life.

I am not perfect.

Look inside my soul.

You shall find a woman that has survived bias, discrimination, betrayal, and heartbreak.

I cry many times in the dark with my lonely tears of disappointment.

Still, I rise each time.

I come back as strong-willed, relentless, and with perseverance to face society again.

I am not perfect.

Sunflowers

  • Symbolism: Positivity, Adoration, Strength, Loyalty, and Longevity.
  • Annual and Perennial (Dependent on type)
  • Great cutting flowers for floral arrangements or to simply enjoy in your garden
  • Seeds germinate easily (99 % successful rate)
  • Sow directly on ground during the months of September – December to produce spring flowers. ( I live in Plant Hardiness Zone 9 (California, with mild winters)
  • Spacing 6-12 inches apart and 1 inch in depth. Preferably multiple rows, if your garden allows it to create a beautiful uniform visual effect.
  • After flower dies, dried seeds are visible for picking from head and could be saved for next year planting.
